So it was ‘Summer Exotica Days’ at 99 Ranch and had me, Kitten and Andy all together trying new stuff. Andy tried some furikake on rice, bean thread noodles, plum and green tea drink ad shrimp wontons. Kitten picked my ramen today – the picture of the cartoon cow did it for her.
Two packets…
Just like the chicken, the dry powder was a little nicer with the addition of the green onions. As the chicken flavor as well, the noodles were pre-seasoned and could be eaten on their own. The seasoning oil was well, oily as you’ll see.
So here’s the finished product (click image to enlarge), all done and unadulterated.
And just look at that shine! Separate drops of grease dance on the surface of this bowl of noodles reminding me of the scene in Tampopo where the ramen guy waxes philosophic about the grease being shimmering jewels.
So – how was it? Very tasty! Not much as far as spiciness really. As far as the noodles, they tasted quite good – a bit thinner than their Japanese counterparts. The broth was very flavorful – had a deep and robust flavor. I really would recommend this to anyone – and to not shy away because of the spicy label. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
