#168: JFC Japanese Style Noodle Fresh Udon

Huge noodle bowl! Fresh noodles!

Okay so this is the second one of these I’ve ever had! They are a bit spendier than the regular ones – usually they’re between $2 and $4…

But then again its a completely different experience. This is udon and it’s some thick noodle. Bout the gauge of a crayon! Then you get veggies and some liquid soup base. Very different from a package of ramen.

Here’s everything ready to have some water put on and microwaved. You add hot tap water up to the line then microwave for 3 minutes.

Click image to enlarge. BAM! Check that crazy action out! This one is really tasty! A little acidic, a little sweet. The noodles are tasty too. A lot of veggies and they’re interesting. I think there’s some cabbage going on and neat little spirally things  like in the bottom area of the above photo. So I liked it – giving 3.75 out of 5.0 stars – trippy stuff and a good breakfast.

  1. The spiral stuff is called naruto, it’s a sliced fish cake, kind of like kamaboko or pink kamaboko, except the pink is on the inside and is mainly decorative.

  2. I had a bowl of the Udon.I though taste of the soup was good. I really enjoyed it.I live in FL.Trying to order some noodle on line. Do you know were I can order some JFC.?

    1. Florida huh? Well, I imagine if you look it up you can probably get it on Amazon.com, but more locally, just search for H Mart maybe? What might work best is to find any Asian grocery and ask for fresh Udon. They’ll have it in packets from MAruchan – its much like the JFC, just not in bowls and very inexpensive. I have moticed the bowls are often $2-$4 and saw that the other Udons are as low as 69 cents on sale – to be reviewed soom I might add!
