Here’s one I received from Mika in California – thank you! I really like yakisoba and this looks interesting. I read that this is considered ‘the soul food of Japan’ – let’s check it out!
Here’s detail of the top (click image to enlarge).
The noodle block. Had a really nice fried noodle scent.
The vegetable packet.
A nice bit of variety.
The yakisoba sauce packet.
Classic scent of sweetness, saltiness and Worcestershire.
A dual packet – not sure of the left, but the right is seaweed.
I tasted a pinch of the left – white pepper perhaps?
Finished (click image to enlarge). Added some kamaboko. The noodles are very light and bouncy. The yakisoba flavor is excellent – not too oil or overbearing. The vegetables come out clean with a satisfying crunch. The seaweed and white pepper give a final bit of flavor – a great accompaniment. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 4902885000686.
This is a must see: 1,200 of these boxes of yakisoba are prepared meticulously in an enormous reproduction of the box – a huge team of people take part and cranes and enormous forks come into play – all to celebrate a guy’s birthday.
