I still haven’t found anywhere with any kind of straight definition of sichek, but it seems to me that it’s just a kind of dry noodle dish, kind of like mi goreng. The tom yum variety I had a few days back was quite good, and so today with Andy over here and his penchant for enjoying all things chicken, I thought I’d make this one for him. Let’s check it out!
Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Contains chicken. To prepare, add noodle block to a bowl and add 350ml boiling water. Let steep for 3 minutes. Drain. Add in sachet contents. Stir and enjoy!
The noodle block.
The dry seasoning base.
A light powder with flecks of vegetable.
An oil sachet.
Has an onion scent.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added coriander and baked chicken. As I expected, this was like a different take on mi goreng. The noodles have a decent gauge and nice chew to them. The flavor is kind of like a smoked chicken – I’ve noticed a lot of these MAMA varieties from Myanmar have this kind of smoky taste going on – fascinating. Decent oiliness and flavor throughout. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8951987101021.
Probably the most well-known MAMA instant – MAMA Instant Noodle, Tom Yum Shrimp Spicy Flavor, 3.17 Ounce (Pack of 20)
