Here’s another one sent to me by Javier from Box From Japan. Box From Japan has subscriptions for all sorts of neat Japanese things. I regret to say that I was informed that they won’t be taking subscriptions for their ramen boxes for now – hopefully that will start again soon. He mentioned that you can purchase instant noodles from them here. Here’s what he had to say about this particular variety:
Instant noodles that simulate the local flavor of the ramen from the city of Kitakata, in the Aizu region of Fukushima prefecture. Noodles: Flat and curly noodles that mix well with a glossy-surfaced soup. Soup: Light soup with the richness of seafood. Its base is cooked-and-dried pork, to which you add the flavor of dried bonito, two types of soy sauce concentrated and enhanced with ginger, which serves to heighten the flavor. Ingredients: Grilled pork slices, fish paste spirals (naruto), bamboo shoots, and chives.
Alright, let’s have a look!
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains fish and pork. To prepare, add in clear sachet contents and boiling water to fill line. Cover for 3 minutes. Add in liquid sachet contents. Stir and enjoy!

The noodle block.
The liquid base sachet.
A decent amount of liquid.
The vegetables sachet.
Not just veggies but pork and narutomaki.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion and hard boiled egg. The noodles hydrated nicely – they have a soft chew and a wide and thick kind of character. The broth is definitely a kind of fishy shoyu; one that is alright but a slight bit saltier than I prefer. The naruto was good, vegetables decent but pork so thin it might have not been present. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4901734025344.
