One of the first things I learned about Mama Pat’s foods was when I saw a video of Chef Ron making gumbo at a store demo. He used big bags of shrimp, tons of crab and other really great ingredients. He didn’t hold back and definitely went for the gusto. I’m a fan of seafood but haven’t had a lot of seafood from the USA as of late since it’s usually found slathered in white sauces or copious amounts of butter. I definitely got spoiled in Malaysia and Thailand trying all that seafood from there – amazing stuff! Gumbo however is something different. It’s full of seafood and has a nice strong taste – something I really like. I have high hopes for this one; it sounds good, but will it be? Let’s give this seafood gumbo a look!
Mama Pat’s Seafood Gumbo Flavor Instant Ramen Noodles – United States
Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, add noodle block to 2 cups of boiling water and cook for 3 minutes. Take off heat and add sachet contents and let sit for 1 minute. Stir and enjoy! To make the fruit drink: add sachet contents to 8 ounces water (I’m going with cold water). Finally, stir and enjoy!
The noodle block.
The soup base sachet.
Has a nice and rich scent.
A solid ingredients sachet.
Has a nice herbs and spices scent.
The included drink mix sachet.
The drink (click to enlarge)! Definitely lemonade. Has a decent tart and sweet kind of taste to it.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added green onion, crab stick, shrimp, baked chicken, turkey smoked sausage, sweet onion and Crystal hot sauce. The noodles came out nicely – good quantity and chew. The flavor was good, although it didn’t make me think of seafood gumbo exactly. Nonetheless, the herbs gave it a good taste I enjoyed. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 728028430936.
