Here’s one sent by Chef Ron from Mama Pat’s Foods – thank you! So I’ve reviewed a LOT of Indomie in the past, yet it’s hard to come by new varieties to try. Luckily, here’s the first of hopefully more from Indomie’s product line from Nigeria! As far as continents go, Africa has been just the toughest for me to get varieties from. Here’s a little about Indomie from Wikipedia –
Indomie is a brand of instant noodle by Indofood, the largest instant noodle manufacturer in Indonesia with 72% of market share.[1] It is distributed in Australia, Asia, Africa, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and European and Middle Eastern countries. Outside its main manufacturing plants in Indonesia, Indomie is also produced in Nigeria since 1995 where it is a popular brand and has the largest instant noodle manufacturing plant in Africa.
Let’s have a try at this onion chicken flavor instant and see how it is.
Indomie Instant Noodles Onion Chicken Flavor – Nigeria
Here’s a big distributor sticker from the back of the package (click to enlarge).
Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free although mentions chicken flavor. To prepare add noodle block to 250ml boiling water and cook 2 minutes. Flip noodles, add contents of sachets, and cook until water is soaked by noodles. Finally, stir and enjoy!
The noodle block.
A dual sachet.
Chilli powder atop the seasoning base.
Seasoned oil.
Oily and seasoned.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added baked chicken and egg. I was really stoked on this one; then I had to cook it… I will say that I love these noodles – a little thicker gauge and a nice chew. However the flavor is just so unpalatable and salty that it just ruins it. Could be so much better if it wasn’t such an onslaught of saltiness. 1.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 089886130010.
Funny, I LOVE this one! I do eat it dry too. The ONION chicken I think is better than the regular chicken one, but unfortunately harder to find here in the Netherlands. Do you have a Dutch background btw Hans? (your name sounds Dutch)
It’s weird the satay and rendang are strangely not available… Nope not Dutch. Mostly British germanic and French
There’s a soup direction on it as well (boil it in 350 ml water for 3 minutes)
Hi Hans, I know that Indomie onion Chicken flavour is supposed to be soup based, not dry. Perhaps that explains the saltiness
Yeah I’m confused about it although I went with the package instructions and that’s how it came out…
