Here’s one that Kamran from Ramen Regret Rater sent over from Australia – thanks again! He got this one on a recent trip to Bali. It’s crazy – everything is so far away from here but all sorts of awesome places are just a quick hop from Australia.
So this look interesting. I mean, it looks to be a spicy mee goreng, but ramen. I guess the only way to know what’s going on here is to give it a taste. Let’s get it going!
Nissin Gekikara Ramen Extra Hot Ramen Goreng – Indonesia
Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Says it contains ‘natural identical shrimp flavor’ which kind of screams that it has shrimp in it but really unsure with that wording. To prepare, add noodles and dried vegetables to 500ml boiling water and cook 3 minutes. Drain. add in other sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
A really wide dual sachet.
The seasoning base.
Chilli powder.
A liquid sachet.
Seasoned oil and sweet soy sauce.
The vegetables sachet.
Carroty, leek, mushroom and chilli.
Finished (click to enlarge). The noodles were soft and a little sloppy – really good! There was a lot of heat for sure and a touch of sweetness. I really enjoyed the strong paprika hit from the ground pepper mix. The vegetable bits hydrated very nicely. This was not at all what I expected; it looked like it’d be seafood or more mee goreng. It ended up being quite unique and tasty! 4.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8992718853530.
