Here’s another one from Zenpop.JP. Zenpop offers a lot of diverse Japanese boxes – lots of assorted things like ramen and also stationary among other things. Here’s what they have to say about this variety –
The noodles are not fried, which makes this bowl of ramen a little more fresh tasting. The shoyu based soup is spiced up with sesame and includes slices of seaweed that cover up the surface of the soup. Healthy and satisfying!
Also, here’s a little from Wikipedia about wakame –
Wakame (ワカメ wakame), Undaria pinnatifida, is a sea vegetable, or edible seaweed. It has a subtly sweet flavour and is most often served in soups and salads.
Sea-farmers have grown wakame in Japan since the Nara period.[1][better source needed] The Invasive Species Specialist Group has listed Undaria pinnatifida on its list of 100 worst globally invasive species.[2]
Alrighty then – let’s check it out!

Lots of seaweed.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chashu pork, spring onion, and Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts. The noodles came out alright – not the best but far from the worst. The broth had a nice shoyu flavor to it that was just inundated with tons of seaweed and wakame. I really liked that aspect, and the bowl was very nice. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.
