Today we’ve got something new from Mom’s Dry Noodle with their new shiitake zhajiang. Shiitake mushrooms… Hmmm… Curious if I’ll like this one… I wish I liked mushrooms more – my wife loves mushrooms – so does my buddy from Germany. Shiitake have a strong flavor to them… Curious how that will translate in here. Hopefully well! Let’s find out!
Mom’s Dry Noodle Shiitake Zhajiang – Taiwan
Here’s the outer packaging (click to enlarge). Unsure if it contains meat – check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodles for 6 minutes and drain. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
One of the four individual packages.
A paste sachet.
Thick stuff.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added cucumber, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, and carrot. Noodles came out perfectly – flat and broad with a really great chew to them. They were perfect for the flavor – bit of mushroom throughout and a nice savory sauce. I expected an onslaught of shiitake flavor (which I’m not usually keen on in other varieties) and found a nice flavor that had a great balance and texture. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.
