So here’s somewhat of a mystery to me. I’ve never heard of this company, nor am I familiar with their products. But here they are – and they arrived in the mail yesterday in a box with such a big hole in it all I needed to do to see was was inside was reach in and pull a pack out. That’s pretty unique! Let’s give these a try!
Yilaishuen Handmade Noodles With Spicy Chili Sauce – Taiwan
Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Says they are Vegan, but check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle for 5 minutes. Drain. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
A very broad dry noodle.
A wet sachet.
Looks oily and spicy.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added grilled chicken, soft egg, scallions, and fried garlic. Noodles were excellent – great chew and mouthfeel. Just a hair wider than most broad style noodles in this style. The flavor was equally impressive. There’s a modest and enticing hit of Sichuan pepper, a salty soy taste which isn’t overbearing, and a gentle sweetness. These components really go well together. I was very impressed with this one and giving it the score was a no brainer. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 471117318189.
