I got two of these packs sent to me from two sources. The First was from a reader named James from California. The second from a My Ramen Box subscription box (use coupon code THERAMENRATER for a discount). Thanks to both!
Well, I’ve been kind of weirded out by this one. Abalone (at least artificially flavored) noodle varieties have never been my favorite. I’ve never tried abalone in the real world either. They look kind of odd and funky. But I’ve really enjoyed many things that would fall in that category. Braised intestine in Taiwan is one of my favorite things, so who knows, I might really like this. We shall see.
A1 Abalone Noodle – Malaysia
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains abalone. To prepare, add in powder base and liquid from retort pouch with 450ml boiling water until ‘strong aroma develops.’ Add in noodle block and cook 3 minutes. Add in abalone for 10 seconds. Finally, stir and enjoy!
The noodle block.
A dry sachet of soup base powder.
A retort pouch of liquid and abalone.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chicken, Salad Cosmo organic mung bean sprouts, and spring onion. Noodles appear to be non-fried and came out quite nice. Broth has a strong and savory chicken flavor which was very welcoming. The abalone? A pleasant surprise – a chewy piece which was quite cook – like a large clam, honestly. Everything here was good. 4.75 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 9556593115016.
