Here’s one that came in a Zenpop box. Zenpop is a subscription box service – check em out and use coupon code RAMENRATER for a discount!
Here’s what they had to say about this one – “The perfect low-calorie and salty ramen to eat on a cold day. A deeply layered and flaorful soup which has a nice harmony with the slightly chewy and non-fried noodles. The taste of kelp, chicken, and vegetable dashi comes through well for an umami rich soup, finished off with wontons. For those worried about their health, this recipe has been renewed to reduce salt by 25%.”
So that’s it. I quit. I give up on this bowl. Not the one I’m reviewing – that was good – no – the bowl I put it in. Not once have I ended up with a nice picture with this bowl. I deem it cursed and into the trash it shall go. I like wontons – let’s give it a try!
Myojo Shio Wantan Ramen – Japan
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains chicken. and pork. To prepare, add in sachet contents and boiling water to line. Cover for 4 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).
The non-fried noodle block.
A dry base sachet.
All the wontons.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chicken with panko, egg, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion, and sesame seed. The noodles have a robust chew – definitely on the premium end of the stick. Good chew and backbone. The broth has a kind of chicken shio thing going on, however there’s a slight bitterness on the backend which makes me think potassium chloride. Wontons were great. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4902881433327.
