I’ve done a Meet The Manufacturer series with ABC a long time ago, but now they’ve got a renewed presence and exciting new products here in the United States – I thought let’s do another! Here’s an interview I conducted with them recently.
THE RAMEN RATER> Thank you for agreeing to this interview! To start, can you tell my readers about the history of ABC?
ABC PRESIDENT> PT. ABC President Indonesia was established in September 1991 under a joint venture agreement between PT. ABC Central Food of Indonesia and Uni-President Enterprises Corporation of Taiwan.
Most people know the “ABC” Brand as the market leader in food and beverages in Indonesia. Guided by the principle of satisfying customer needs, it has steadily expanded its business to other foods. Now “ABC” is a famous household brand name, known for its quality.
TRR> For my readers who might not be familiar with your product lines, can you give a little information about them please?
ABC PRESIDENT> Since 1991 ABC noodle company has been producing its premium line of instant noodles to satisfy its consumer demand for better tasting noodles. ABC is one of key players in Indonesia Instant Noodle Market. Mi ABC is available throughout the nation due to our wide distribution network. Our export markets spread across European and Asia Pacific Countries. In fact, we are the leaders in the hot flavored categories.
ABC expanded its business to beverages industry in 2005.
ABC sauce products, such as syrup, sweet soy sauce and sambal hot sauce began to lead Indonesian market share in 1980s.
TRR> Your company is located in Indonesia. Can you tell us a little about your country?
ABC PRESIDENT> Since its introduction to the Indonesian public in 1968, instant noodles have slowly but surely become a significant part of the Indonesian diet. It has been categorized as comfort food, even marketed as an occasional replacement for daily breakfast, lunch or dinner. The easy preparation method and variety of flavors carefully tailored to suit the average Indonesian palate have put instant noodles as a priority product to be packed when traveling, as well for stocking up at home.
TRR> Do you have any new varieties you’re especially proud of?
ABC PRESIDENT> Who knew the perfect combination for noodles involved Cheese & instant Stir-fry and Chili? We did! That is why we’ve crafted this delectable creamy creation with a spicy kick – Spicy Cheese Noodles! TRR> How does your noodle making process differ from other instant noodle manufacturers?
ABC PRESIDENT> As a market leader in Indonesia for its spicy noodle range, what differentiates ABC noodles is our thicker noodle texture that gives that bouncy full-bodied bite & mouth feel. Unlike other noodles, our noodles do not easily swell up and become mush. The rich & smooth flavor from the seasonings & sauces is crafted from years of experience and being a part of ABC sauce company.
TRR> Are instant noodles the only products you make?

TRR> Are you involved in in your local community or participate in charities?
ABC PRESIDENT> Of course. We donate our products to local charities. We also sent our care packages to hospitals in San Francisco and New York and show our gratitude to those who fight covid-19 on the frontline.
TRR> Are there any new products coming soon?
ABC PRESIDENT> Yes, we are testing the new flavors currently. Hope we will introduce more flavors to the US market soon.
TRR> When you make noodles for yourself, what do you like to add to them to make them extra special?
ABC PRESIDENT> I would like to add an egg! Top it with a fried egg & bacon – Voila! The noodles also taste good with veggies and steak.
