This bowl gives me fits. First, it’s an export product. But it’s for US and Canadian export. Should I label it as one of those? Generally if it was only for the United States, I would say it’s for the USA and label it as such. But as presented, I kind of have to just say it’s South Korean. Even though you’d never find this in South Korea. Yeah – so let’s cook it up.
Wang Teriyaki Udon Original – South Korea
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). I prepared it not following directions as I couldn’t read them – I added the noodles, garnish, and boiling water for a minute and stirred. Drained all liquid and added sauce and katsuobushi and stirred. I’m going to wager it’s almost identical minus the 50ml of added water.
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).
The noodle pouch.
A wet sauce sachet.
A dry vegetable garnish sachet.
The katsuobushi.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added spring onion, kizami shoga, pepper flake, and spring onion. Udon is the standard thick and chew fresh pouch fare. It was nicely coated in the sauce which imparts a nice teriyaki kind of taste, however a little on the tangy side. Katsuobushi added a nice touch. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 087703182455.
