So, we have one that’s a little different but much like others. This is a dry noodle (fried) with a sesame sauce – dry and peanutty – paired with a broth you sip. I’ve only seen this style of prep in Taiwanese varieties – it’s pretty neat. Let’s give it a try.
Wei Lih Men Ma Jiang – Taiwan
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Unsure if it contains meat – check for yourself. To prepare, cook noodle block in 400ml water for 3 minutes. Drain, but save the water. Add small soup base sachet to the water and paste to the noodles. Stir both in seperate bowl/plate. Finally, enjoy as a supping soup and noodle dish!
The noodle block.
A paste sachet.
A sachet of dry soup base.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added spring onion, cashew, and fried garlic. The noodles are flat and in conjunction with the paste end up very dry. This is certainly not a complaint because the broth pairs so nicely. I will say this one was saltier than expected but still really tasty. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 4710199110102.
