Okay so this came during summer. This is a cold noodle with no broth. The name bukkake means ‘splash’ in Japanese – I am fully aware of the ‘other’ meaning for it, so don’t need a refresher (no pun intended). Cold noodles are really great – kind of like a salad thing. Let’s give these a try!
Maruchan Cold Bukkake Udon – Japan
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains fish. To oprepare, add boiling water to line and cover for 5 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge). Note the drain spout on the top right.
The noodle block.
Two pieces of kamaboko (fishcake).
A wet sauce sachet.
A dry garnish sachet.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added tomato, cucumber, chili flake, sesame seed, spring onion, and egg. Noodle has a thicker gauge which works well. The flavor was really leaning on bonito which didn’t exactly work for me. Interesting, but ultimately disappointed 2.5 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4901990366076.
