This is a big bowl from South Korea – a pouch of udon and a lot of big sachet action for ya! The katsuo has to do with katsuobushi – smoked fish flake. Let’s check it out!
Wang Katsuo Udon – South Korea
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains fish. To prepare, add noodles and liquid sachet to bowl. Fill to line with hot water and microwave 3 minutes (800W). Add in remaining sachets. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added sesame seed, tempura, spring onion, and narutomaki. Udon does as well as it should – thick with a nice chew. The broth has a sweet karuobushi flavor imparted by the base as well as the sachet of fish floss. Included vegetable flake sachet was chock full of bits and permeated the whole bowl.
