When I heard about this, I was immediately interested. Dried shrimp are a big part of this and I’m curious how ‘shrimpy’ the flavor will be. Let’s find out as I review the first variety from Chillies Brand I’ve tried!
Chillies Brand Hae Bee Hiam – Singapore
Detail of the package (click to enlarge). Contains shrimp. To prepare, boil noodle 4~5 minutes (I’m doing 4 1/2) and drain. Add in paste sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
A non-fried noodle block.
A big paste sachet.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added fried egg, spring onion, pepper flake, and sesame seed. Wow. Blown away. Noodles are almost pasta like – they have an excellent chew and a good quantity. The flavor of the paste is off the charts – not only that, the texture. Starting with the flavor, it’s a very strong shrimp flavor – sweet with a nice level of spiciness. The texture comes in with the dried shrimp – little chewy bits that are just perfect. This is what it’s all about for me – new varieties and flavors that are so good I have to eat the whole plate. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8888477012441.
