I have to say – I like boxed varieties. They always seem to house more premium stuff, and this is continuing that observation. Beef and tendon, dry noodle, and a huge retort pouch.
As I write this , it’s Tuesday, November 24th, 2020. Pretty crazy – got the whole election thing going on, COVID is insane, and Thanksgiving is the day after tomorrow. I’m always over 100 reviews ahead so that’s why you’re seeing this now. I’m guessing it’s March 2021 where you’re at? Anyways, it’s a weird moment in time right now. Hopefully the world is a little more settled and things are going better. They’re saying people will be getting vaccinated in the spring. Anyways, hello to the future – I sometimes kick out a message like this. Hope all is well. Now, let’s cook some groovy noodles!
A-Sha LaoTao Beef and Tendon Noodles – Taiwan
Detail of the box (click to enlarge). Contains beef. To prepare, boil noodles for 4~5 minutes. Drain. Heat sachet contents. Add noodles. Finally, stir and enjoy!
The noodle block.
A really big retort pouch full of soup.
Unsure if this is the tendon meat or if it’s a different garnish.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added marinated egg, scallions, sesame seed, and pepper flake. The noodles although thin and flat have a very wonderful chew. The broth is a rich and succulent beefy one with complex flavors like anise and clove in there too – very rich. The beef is just a show stopper – delicious and with the added tendon, also extremely rich. The pickled garnish was a real treat which balanced things out superbly. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.
