Here’s a fancy one from Japan found in a Zenpop box – check out zenpop.jp and use the coupon code RAMENRATER for a discount! The last time I tried one of these mochichi varieties I remember it mentioned ‘pinching one’s cheek’ to tell if they’re not really in a fancy ramen restaurant in Tokyo. It was pretty good, but no pinching occured. Let’s give it a try.
Acecook Mochichi Shio Yakisoba – Japan
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains fish and pork. To prepare, add boiling water to line and cover for 4 minutes. Drain. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).
The noodle block.
Loose bits from the cup.
A dry sachet.
A sachet of liquid seasoning.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added narutomaki, spring onion, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, chashu, egg, Lao Gan Ma Spicy Chili Crisp, and sesame seed. The noodles were really just plain off-putting to me with the texture they put forth. Just kind of rubbery and mistakenly fascinating. I was not fascinated. The flavor was really not my cup of tea either. A let down. 2.0 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4901071222307.
