This one has an interesting preparation method and I’m honestly really excited to try it. I’ve seen many varieties that kind of look like this. My wife Kit was awesome – while our car has been down for the count, she went out shopping and checked whether I’d tried varieties and got me this one to try! She’s the best – let’s check it out!
Sanyang Yishi Classic Guilin Rice Noodle – China
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, let rice noodles sit for 2-3 minutes in a bowl with boiling water. Loosen and stir a little. Drain noodles. Add in all of the sachets. Finally, stir and enjoy!
A large pouch of rice noodles.
A liquid sachet – soy sauce perhaps?
Pickled bamboo shoots.
Sour bean.
Chinese sauerkraut.
Chili oil.
This one says ‘pea.’
Finished (click to enlarge). Added marinated egg, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, sesame seed, chicken, pepper flake, and spring onion. Noodles have a little sponginess I couldn’t quite get with. The flavor was all in all pickled which wasn’t bad at all, but the ingredients were a lot to take; they seemed distinctly seperated and not harmonious. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars.
