Thanks again to the guy in Montana for sending this a little while back. These days, the unboxing video’s comments have provided speculation, xenophobic diatribes, and some weird entertainment. Turns out these are the ramen at Walmart now and Walmart customers are seriously unhappy about it – it’s pretty hardcore if you ask me. Fascinating and entertaining nonetheless. Some of these varieties I’ve liked, some not. I actually saw them this weekend at a Walmart – they had these cups at 37 cents for a single, $1.78 for a six pack. That’s an extremely low price point for six meals. Let’s check this one out.
Panda Signature Ramen Noodle Soup Spicy Shrimp Flavor – United States
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains shrimp. To prepare, add in sachet contents and water to fill line. Microwave 2~3 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).
The noodle block.
A dry soup base sachet.
A sachet of dehydrated vegetables.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added shrimp, marinated egg, sesame seed, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, crushed red pepper, and spring onion. Noodles are alright texture wise. Unfortunately, the flavor of the noodle and broth combination are just awful. Like the Lime Chili cup (whose flavor compared to this one seemed to approach identical) it had that ‘turned on for the first time in two months motel room effervescence.’ It bums me out because this is common of varieties I’ve had from China. Sad to see. Again, as with the Lime Chili, this one gets 0.0 out of 5.0 stars. Disappointing. UPC bar code 850018252535.
