This one looked interesting – saw it at our local 99 Ranch Market… Was really struggling with the translation of the directions, however my friend Bobby from Toronto came through right when I needed clarification and here we are – thanks! Let’s give this a try!
Baman Sour Doujiao Noodle – China
An import sticker (click to enlarge).
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodles for 8~10 minutes. Drain. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
A big pack of noodles.
One of many sachets I’m unsure of.
Guessing this is pickled cowpea?
Maybe this is pickled something else.
A dry sachet.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chili oil, chashu, mala sauce, crushed red pepper, sesame seed, spring onion, and marinated egg. Noodles – wow. I didn’t expect rice noodles to chew this nicely, but they did. The flavor though – that was just amazing. A little spiciness, tanginess… The pickled vegetables were just so savory… Absolutely bowled over by this one. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 6970565870513.
