This one came by way of Sugoi Mart – thank you very much! This is a fancy one – very popular – and kind of spendy anywhere you’ll find it. Ichiran pioneered the ‘spendy ramen’ world with their $80 multipacks. Yeah – $80 bucks! I think they’ve come down a bit over time though but wow. Let’s see how this one is!
Ichiran Instant Noodles – Japan
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains pork. To prepare, fill to line with boiling water. Rest the sacht marked B on top. Let steep for 4 minutes. Add in sachets A and B and stir. Finally, garnish with sachet C and enjoy!
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).
The noodle block.
Sachet A – a powder sachet.
Sachet B – a liquid soup base sachet.
Sachet C – this one you squirt in a big glob in the center like on the image from the lid.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chashu, spring onion, sesame seed, marinated egg, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, and narutomaki. Noodles came out absolutely perfect – great tooth and gauge. Broth is a milky tonkotsu with a great oiliness and flavor. That leaves the ‘C’ sachet of special sauce. It was very disappointing. Basically a spicy plum sauce that really left me a little disgusted. The sweetness and spiciness reminded me of the Sweet Tabasco sauce – just way loaded with corn syrup. If it weren’t for that sauce, this would have been a five star review. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4562214821254.
