Hey look at this – pretty cool! This one came in a neat assortment from Sugoi Mart. Sugoi Mart has a ton of neat Japanese stuff – and I mean a TON. So, what’s the flavor in this one? Kibinago is also known as the Silver-Stripe Round Herring and it’s native to Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan. So this is a herring shoyu variety. Sounds good – let’s give it a try!

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Unsure if it contains meat, but probably contains pork and fish. To prepare, add noodle block to 450ml boiling water and cook 3 minutes. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
The noodle block (note – it was in its own packaging inside the outer packaging).
A soup base sachet.
A small sachet – either seaweed or shichimi – maybe sansyo?
Finished (click to enlarge). Added marinated egg, mung bean sprouts, spring onion, narutomaki, sesame seed, and homemade chasdhu. Noodle gauge and tooth were on point. The broth was a very savory shoyu with strong herring notes. What was nice is that it was rich and not fishy – everything worked very well. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4976302004540.
