Here’s an interesting one from Japan found in a Zenpop box – check out zenpop.jp and use the coupon code RAMENRATER for a discount!
Here’s what they had to say about it – “You’re familiar with tonkotsu ramen, the lovely taste Kyushu-style pork bone broth based dish, but have you heard of tori paitan (鶏白湯)? This is the chicken version of the same dish, and a new product of the familiar donbei (どん兵) line from Nissin. The chicken makes these instant noodles much lighter than their pork bone counterparts, and Nissin found a culinary creative way to enhance all the flavors. The hot water-based tsuyu (つゆ) takes advantages of the chicken flavor, to which chicken oil (chiyu, ちーゆ) was mixed, giving your dish a warm and creamy texture. If you’re a fan of udon (うどん), the thicker Japanese noodles, this is the perfect cup to try a less common dish that they can be cooked in. It’s a very casual eat, with a mellow broth that welcomes the udon perfectly; a sweet and creamy chicken noodle for when the days get colder.”
This sounds like a very good one. Paitan varieties I’ve tried in the past have been incredible. Let’s check it out!

The noodle block.
A dry base sachet.
A sachet of liquid.
Loose bits from the bowl.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added soft boiled marinated egg, narutomaki, spring onion, shichimi, baked chicken, and sesame seed. The udon had a nice chew to it I don’t usualkly find in these bowls, which was great. The broth is literally like a chicken version of tonkotsu. Very creamy and hearty with a nice oiliness. Little minced chicken meatballs float around without a care in the world – and they’re good as well. 4.75 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4902105267943.
