Here we go again with this word I really enjoy saying. It reminds me of the Malaysian term for a specific style of laksa – Nyonya. There’s a brand over there that makes some tasty stuff called Nyor Nyar too. I just like saying things like that, but I don’t ever say nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah. Anyways, let’s give this narrow gauge shoyu a try.
Itsuki Small Soy Sauce Nyumen – Japan
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Unsure whether it contains meat – check for yourself. To prepare, add 200ml boiling water and contents of sachet. Cover for 1 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!

The nyumen, in a pouch.
The dry soup base sachet.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added homemade chashu, soft egg, narutomaki, spring onion, sesame seed, mung bean sprouts, and shichimi. Noodle was asoft and imparted a fresh feel. The broth didn’t seem very soy sauce based but more bonito. It had a strong sweetness, so perhaps the supplied translation is flawed. A very small portion. Little flower fu were a nice touch. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4901726012864.
