For the longest time, I only thought there was a single variety of Nongshim’s Tonkotsu bowl – the spicy one. Lo and behold, there’s this one with black garlic oil as well. What’s more, I think both exist concurrently. The spicy one has a five star rating from me and is at the top of the USA top ten. Let’s check this new one out!

The noodle block.
Loose bits from the bowl.
A sachet of dry soup base powder.
A sachet of black garlic oil.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added shichimi, narutomaki, soft egg, mung bean sprouts, sesame seed, and spring onion. The noodles come out of the microwave soft but seperate and work well with the broth. The broth is a rich tonkotsu – I will admit I’m much more keen on the spicy version than this one though. The garlic oil is a nice touch. Good for those who don’t like spicy tonkotsu. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 031146058105.
