Konjac noodles generally are very chewy and rubbery – unless they have a gauge that works well with them. That being said, they’re also quite low in calories – extremely low. This one seems to marry konjac and rice together for the noodle. However, if it were simply konjac, it would be much lower. Anyways, let’s see what we have.
Nan Shuan Dao Sheng Wuhan Sesame Hot Sauce Konjac Rice Noodle – China
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, get a pot and put cold water in and add noodles. Turn on the heat for 12 minutes. Put a lid on for 3 more minutes. Drain. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
The konjac rice noodles.
Looks like the spicy sachet.
Possibly soy sauce.
A sachet of sesame paste.
Unsure what these are exactly – perhaps long bean?
Finished (click to enlarge). Added sauteed beef, spring onion, sesame seed, and crushed red pepper. This was a good one – the noodles had a nice texture and tooth. Gauge was great as well. What I did notice is that the combination of rice flour andd konjac flour mimicked the same kind of thing a wheat flour could do – unsure if the wheat version would be more calories, however. The flavor was mostly sesame paste with black vinegar and a spicy element. They all comingled very well together and the dish wasn’t too strong on any one element. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.
