This is an interesting review. Usually, the reviews I post daily have been done months in advance. However today’s review was probably done the day prior. It’s Monday night right now, the kids are having dinner, the guinea pigs a weeping waiting for theirs. I’m writing this framework for review #4235. The thing is that this product was introduced in Singapore on April 4th and only made for 3 weeks, so they’re already running out. They sent me a special box with some samples and I posted the unboxing today. So I’m going to review it tomorrow (Tuesday), and release it on Wednesday. So that being said, I’ll have to switch the number of this review with the one that was going to come out on Wednesday. Should be fine. Since this is so limited edition, I just want people to see it while it makes sense for them to see it. Anyways, there you are. I hope it’s good!
I have had fish head curry in Penang, Malaysia back in 2014. It was pretty insane; we traveled there and it took like 36 hours – plus our flight left Seattle at midnight. Our plan was to sleep a lot the day before the trip but of course we were way too excited. So by the time it was go out to dinner time in Penang, I felt like I was on a different planet; sleep deprived and completely exhausted. Swear that fish head started talking at one point! It’s neat when foods bring back memories, and that’s a good one. Let’s crack the lid and give this a try.

This is the inside (click to enlarge). of a neat thing that was inside the clay pot that came with the big box these samples were in – look up top for the link to the unboxing video – it’s really neat what they sent to promote these cups!
The noodle block.
Loose ingredients from the cup.
A sachet of curry paste.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added fish ball, eggplant, ladyfinger, hot peppers, sesame seed, crushed red pepper, mung bean sprouts, and mint. This stuff is just great. The noodle is pretty much your regular flat and thin fare you’d expect coming from a Cup Noodles variety. That being said, that’s where the expected ends. The broth is luxuriant – really good rich curry flavor with fish notes, a bit of spiciness… Then the tau pok and fish ball bits in there round things out nicely. Really a great cup – which leads me to ask – why limit it? Deserves to be a permanent part of the Nissin SG lineup! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8888279103309.
