Another one found just before Lunar New Year at a local market. These have all been fun to review as they’re all very mysterious; the way to translate and research these is always different and usually requires a lot of digging. Let’s check it out!
Kings Noodle Chongqing Instant Pea Noodles – China
A distributor’s sticker (click to enlarge).
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, add noodle to a pot and boil about 5 minutes. Drain. Add in all sachets. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Here is a bundle of straight noodles. Long and thin.
Can’t remember what this ended up being.
This ended up being the golden peas.
This one contained two liquid sachets inside.
In addition, we have this pickled sachet.
This oil sachet…
…and this sachet which confused me to no end until I opened it. Vacuum packed to the extreme, it felt like a solid block of something unknown, but when opened it was clearly crushed peanuts.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added spring onion and sesame seed. The noodle was exquisite – a very thin gauge, but still had some backbonee and a very good mouthfeel. The flavor was a Sichuan peppercorn backed (not overly so) with notes of cumin and a savoriness that just wouldn’t quit. Bit of peanut were very prevalent, and the golden peas – wow! Those really livened things up. This was an easy rating – 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 6970628922005.
