About seven years ago, I had the fortune to be invited to visit MAMA’s instant wheat and rice noodle factories in Thailand. It was so amazing; these places are so amazingly clean and full of the most fascinating people I’ve ever met. By the time this is released, my guess is that my Definitive Guide To MAMA Tom Yum will be out. They’re celebrating their 50th year and that’s pretty darn cool. I’m really excited about it! Let’s check out this Pad Thai though – I’m guessing it will be quite good.
MAMA Pad Thai Meal Kit – Thailand
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains shrimp. To prepare, boil noodles for 4 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water. Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil over medium high heat. Add in 50g shrimp. Push to one side of pan and add 1 beaten egg to the other side. Add in noodles and sauce – stir fry for 30 seconds. Fold in bean sprouts and spring onions. Let cook ten seconds before combining. Finally, plate and enjoy!
One of three servings of rice noodle.
A sachet of sauce.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added mung bean sprouts, shrimp, egg, sesame seed, coriander, spring onion, crushed red pepper, and thin sliced Fresno peppers. Rice noodles came out just perfectly. The flavor in this one was just great – a nice slightly sweet sauce covers everything with a tasty and savory flavor. Not a big peanut fest here. Great stuff! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.
