Wei Lih is probably most well known for their Wei Lih Men, a variety which has both a soup and a noodle with black bean paste. I’ve never seen this variety before, and it’s been a while since I’ve reviewed anything new from them – or at least new to me. Excited to try this – let’s check it out!
Wei Lih Instant Noodles With Spicy Hot Pot Flavor – Taiwan
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free, but check for yourself. To prepare, add noodle block and seasonings to 500ml boiling water and cook 3 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!
The noodle block.
A dry seasoning sachet.
A sachet of paste.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, black sesame seed, spring onion, crushed red pepper, and fried garlic. The noodles came out pretty well, although they were much softer than I prefer. The broth has a Sichuan peppercorn heat to it and was otherwise kind of bland and I wish they were stronger. I noticed that the non-cooking instructions call for 350ml of water vs the cooking with 500ml water. I’m going to guess that the steeping version is much stronger. As for the cooking version, I give it 2.75 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 4710199111499.
