This sounded interesting enough. Well, hopefully it’s alright. I dunno. I haven’t had all that much luck with this brand lately so we shall see. The last one was a shoyu and really kind of tame/bland. Hoping this will be a nice luxuriant and creamy tonkotsu with a lot of flavor.
Annie Chun’s Vegan Tonkotsu Ramen Soup Bowl – United States
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Says it’s Vegan friendly but check for yourself. To prepare, add everything to the bowl and fill to line with room temperature water. Microwave for 2 minutes with loose lid. Finally, stir and enjoy!
A pouch of noodles.
A soup base sachet.
A sachet of vegetables.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chashu, soft egg, mung bean sprout, sesame seed, narutomaki, and spring onion. The noodle was about so-so. Very soft and a slightly off texture. The broth was really confusing. Tonkotsu is usually a pork bone broth and not Vegan. The approximation here of a tonkotsu taste is like saying a banana has a similar flavor profile to a t-bone steak. Not only that, it was just funky. Really not a fan of some varieties as of late. 0.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 765667111864.
