So I did this review the morning that my daughter Miriam was born five years ago today. Happy Birthday, Miri! I thought I’d repost it with a little update.
As I’ve said in the past, I’m usually about 50 or so reviews ahead of myself. Well, today is the actual day our daughter Miriam will be born and by the time this comes out she’ll be close to two months old. Wow! It’s early in the morning – although it’s just a few hours away. Really excited! This one seemed interesting enough for a day of birth – Mexican pizza from Taiwan? I think a fiesta is in order; although I wish these were called Little Princess – but hey look at the title I think that works at least a little! Let’s check it out!
Update – Actually, she was two months old 2 days ago! I’ve added a few pictures from the day she was born in with this one. She’s really small – she was 6lbs 1oz. It’s funny; Miles is a big kid and 18 months old and took him ages to be able to balance and hold his huge noggin up which Miri was able to just after a few weeks.
Around 7am, the in-laws showed up and everybody piled in the car. Andy and Miles went over the their Aunt’s while we proceeded to the hospital. It was a cold morning and it was snowing – about as lightly snowing as possible, but snowing nonetheless.
We were scheduled for 1030am and by 11am we were holding our new little baby Miriam. Like I said she’s tiny – two months after being born, she’s still wearing newborn clothes. She likes to be held constantly which I’m okay with – she’s pretty darn cute.
But she’s happy (when fed) and healthy. I pout the video at the bottom of when she was born. Oh yeah – so I stayed in the hospital with Kit and Miri of course after she was born. The second day after getting a visit from Kit’s folks and Andy and Miles, I started feeling funny. Turns out the Norovirus has been going around and I’m in a hospital – the best place to catch something like that. Barfing and everything else you can imagine. Got a lift home and was quarantined for the next 48 hours.
Unfortunately, Kit’s mom and dad and folks at her aunt’s house got it too – evil stuff! But yeah I had to stay away from everybody for 2 whole days. Pretty boring hanging out in the bedroom for that long. I watched all three Smokey And The Bandit movies. Anyways, it lasted about 24 hours and went away. Well, let’s get started with this review!
Update 12/17/2017: Well, as I said in the beginning, Miriam is now a whole year old! She’s a funny little girl – quick to smile and laugh but also quick to get grumpy at times. She’s had a pretty tough go with teething – unlike Miles who got through it pretty fast.
It’s fascinating to watch her grow and interact with her broth Miles who’s knee-deep in the terrible twos. It’s funny; she’s very little and Miles is very big for his age. He is very picky about food, however she will eat anything you put in front of her. My favorite sound I get to hear is when they’re laughing and playing together – it’s definitely music to my soul. It’s not always that way with them, but they’re growing up and learning all the time. Happy birthday to you, Miri! We love you so much!
Update 12/17/2018
In the past year, Miriam has become quite a talker and Elmo fan. She’s really got a great sense of humor and keep us all laughing.
I think in addition of being a fan of Elmo, she’s a huge fan of Miles. She likes to bring him treats we’ve noticed and reciprocally, we’ve noticed him being kind of protective of her – if we leave the room he corrals her and tries to get her to come with us. It’s nice to see. They also butt heads a lot when it comes to toys, but they usually get over it.
Now that Miles has all day preschool a few times a week, I take Miri out for a stroll early in the morning. I decked out her stroller with Christmas lights too. She really likes it and so do I. I talk to her about all the little things we see when we walk around. We stop at the supermarket where the people at the bakery give her a cookie. It’s current day, but I know in the future we’ll look back at this as the good old days.
Today, Mimi turns 4 years old! She’s started Preschool via online learning and is doing well. She’s really into Minnie Mouse, Hello Kitty, and attempting to tell her big brother Miles what to do! This causes a lot of drama, but in the end they both care about eachother very much. I still run her around in her stroller which seems to be getting smaller though. As you can guess from the picture, she’s a sassy little thing. We love her so much and watching her grow fills us with immaculate happiness! Happy 4th birthday, Mimi!!!
Mimi turns 5 today and she’s really excited about it. She’s been going to school on the bus this year and making friends and having a good time.
She’s learned how to command the remote control and doesn’t usually want to relinquish it. She enjoys razzing her brother quite a bit, but in the end they really get along quite nicely.
She actually still fits in the jogging stroller and she hasn’t got school on Wednesdays, so during the time Miles is in school I take her out on long walks and we check out nature and all the construction going on and animals flying around and darting by while. We listen to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (J-Pop) through a pair of speakers and blind oncoming traffic with our lights.
Today’s the last day of school for a couple weeks – Winter Break. They’re having a little party today for kids who are having their birthday over the break and for her – they get to go to school in their pajamas which I would think would be kind of fun. All her teachers have nice things to say about her! She really enjoys going to school which is great – next year is Kindergarten which will be a big deal! Happy Birthday to you, Mimi! My little girl! We love you so much!!!
Update 12/17/2022
Mimi graduated preschool in the spring and now is in Kindergarten. She turned 6 today! Nowadays, she enjoys YouTube (in moderation as she and her brother tend to find repetitive and exceedingly annoying content to watch), and is a Jojo Siwa fan. Unicorns and cats are the preferred animals. She’s been making friends at school and is generally having a great time, greeting us with a big smile every morning. She barely fits in the jogging stroller anymore, but we did a 5k a few months ago with it. She enjoys pizza, mac and cheese, and of course noodles. She’s taken to writing her name Mimi – one mi above the other, so I’m calling her noodle noodle now. Today, she’s having a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese and three of her school friends are coming. We’re so proud of her – happy birthday, Mimi! We love you so much!
