First off, thanks to the folks at A-Sha USA for sending these over! There are two different boxes, four varieties in total. I thought I’d go with this box first. So, I live under a rock; I’m not exceedingly hip to things that aren’t noodle related or politics related. God, I’m old. I do know there is a Korean group called BTS that’s quite popular, and a messaging service called LINE. Well, LINE did a collab with BTS and made BT21 characters, and A-Sha collaborated with LINE and made these noodles featuring these characters.
What’s interesting here is twofold – the BT21 sauce sounds interesting (I don’t think any cute cartoon animal things were harmed in making the sauce, so don’t worry about that). The second thing is the noodle which they’re calling a ‘3D Noodle.’ Not only flat and broad, but a third top line which should impart an interesting mouthfeel. This is made in Taiwan for the US market. Let’s check it out!
A-Sha BT21 Universtar Noodle With BT21 Sauce – United States
Detail of the box (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle for 5 minutes. Drain. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
An individual pillow pack – there are 8 of these in the box.
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). If you look on the lower left, the variety of sauce is depicted with the color of the sachet, this one is purple, so it’s BT21 sauce.
The noodle block. If you look closely, you can see the centerline ridge on the noodle.
A sachet of sauce.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chicken, sesame seed, scallion, soft egg, and chicken. The ‘Meteor Noodle’ is nice – good gauge and chew. The ‘3D’ nature of it I think gave it a little extra backbone. The sauce was tangy with a hint of spice. Pretty good! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 193937000516.
