Well, here we go. In my group Ramen Junkies, Shin reigns supreme. Just a post someone did showing this pack had over a hundred comments real fast. Of course, I’m curious about this one – there’s also a mushroom tofu Shin Green to try as well.
I was fortunate to get invited to visit the Nongshim America factory in Rancho Cucamonga in 2012 – that was something special. You want to talk spotless – and I mean spotless, this is the place to check out. Not only that, they were all really nice folks. I spent some time in their R&D and sampled some things not yet on the market – that was awesome. Sadly, my favorite never made it to prime time. Many products get envisioned and tested, but things like sourcing and per unit cost can eventually cause them to not be produced. Just because your favorite product isn’t available doesn’t mean it was unpopular; it could just be a key ingredient is now unsourceable from a supplier.
Big food is amazing and fascinating to me. Nongshim makes a ton of instant noodle products every single day. Let’s try this single pack of something new and see what makes it tick – then I’ll talk.
Nongshim Premium Shin Gold With Chicken Broth – United States
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains chicken, beef, and fish. To prepare, add noodle block and sachet contents to 500ml boiling water and cook for 4 1/2 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added mung bean sprouts, sesame seed, scallions, narutomaki,soft egg, and chicken. The noodle has a nice sturdy chew to it – excellent gauge of ramyun. The broth is a spicy chicken flavored broth. It’s definitely got that Shin kind of thing going on – almost identical heat level. I really appreciated the vegetable sachet – added a nice amount of texture and worked well to provide an extra nice bowl of noodles. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 031146063543.
