Today, I’m trying the third of three different varieties from Homiah, a company started out of an apartment in New York to share the flavors of Southeast Asia. I’ve been seriously impressed – great stuff so far and highly recommend it! Let’s check out the rendang!
Homiah Indonesian Rendang / Laksa Noodle – United States
You get two big pouches of paste!
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free. Gluten free. To prepare, take a pound of beef and add the paste – cook over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add in 1/3 cup coconut milk and lower heat. Stir and cover for 40 minutes. Finally, enjoy!
The laksa rice noodles.
Coconut milk!
Finished (click to enlarge). I laid the rendang on some coriander and sprinkled fried onion atop. I took the rice noodle and mixed with Homiah Malaysian Sambal Crisp (hae bee hiam). Added a little sesame seed. This was just excellent – the beef has this thick sauce all over it and really came out perfect – I’ve enjoyed rendang before and this was very authentic. The hae bee hiam and rice noodle paired great – wonderful! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 850033377019.
