Here’s something different – corn vermicelli! I’ve tried a different gauge of this paired with Ciptarasa mi goreng seasoning and it was really quite nice. This time I’ll try doing up a soup with Ciptaras onion chicken flavor. Let’s give it a go!
Urai Bihun Jagung Corn Vermicelli – Indonesia
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains nothing but corn. To prepare, boil vermicelli for 2 minutes and drain. Finally, enjoy!
A single section of vermicelli. This makes a whole lot of it.
A sachet of Ciptarasa onion chicken flavor seasoning.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, chicken, coriander, fried onion, and crushed red pepper. This stuff is really great – it’s like rice vermicelli, however it doesn’t have that dry tendency rice vermicelli normally has – like it also reminds me of sweet potato thread, just not anywhere nearly as sloppy. It’s a nice combination of mouthfeel and gauge. The broth went well with it too. While these are two different products and not a regular review, I’d give ’em both 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.
