#4529: Nissin Demae Ramen Seafood Flavor - Hong Kong

First off, thanks to Daniel over at Exotic Noods for sending this and a few others over recently – check out his website!

I was a little surprised to see this one in the box he sent – and then though ‘how long has it been since I reviewed this?’ Well, I first tried this back on July 21st, 2010. It was 15 days since I was married the the finest lady in the entire universe. At that time, we lived in Edmonds, Washington – about a ten minute walk from 99 Ranch Market, a bastion of wonderful thing of Asia. What was great thinking back to then is that there were so few varieties I’d tried; the seafood one I’m doing today was review #78! That review is interesting; the format is different, I’m excited about green onions, there’s even a fork showing in the bowl. I think that review was photographed with a Blackberry… Over 4,400 reviews later, here I will review it again – note it has different packaging of course. Probably different ingredients as well. The sachet has changed as well.

Today was a neat day – went out walking again and first thing this morning, I did the great bowl organizing of Winter 2023. I have a ton of bowls, all different – plates too. I have been wanting to go through them all, get rid of ones I didn’t use, move everything around for more efficiency. My shoulder will most likely hurt tomorrow – I had to put up and pull down stacks of heavy bowls repeatedly. Nothing broke though.

I suppose it’s time to prepare this blast from the past!

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains fish. To prepare, boil 500ml water and add noodle block. Cook for 3 minutes. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!

The noodle block.

A sachet of dry soup base.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added fish cake, fish ball, shrimp, scallion, red pepper flake, and sesame seed. Noodle has a nice tooth, but mostly on the soft side. The broth is a buttery seafood which works really nicely. Definitely a comfort food, begging to be augmented by fresh seafood. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.  EAN bar code 4897878000067.
