Here’s an interesting one from Japan found in a Zenpop box – check out zenpop.jp and use the coupon code THERAMENRATER for a discount!
Here’s what they had to say ‘If you’re looking for a flavor-bomb, this is it. Rich and delicious yakisoba (焼そば) with charred soy sauce and a creamy butter flavor. Yakisoba are a popular type of noodles in Japan, they are often eaten in combination with one of Osaka’s specialties: Okonomiyaki. U.F.O is probably the most famous instant yakisoba there is. There is even a video game and a feature film about the yakisoba series, featuring the hero UFO Kamen Yakisoban! And they deliver on their reputation. With thick cod roe (たらこ), the charred soy really stands out and makes for a delicious meal!’
I thought I’d had this before but maybe not. The other one looks quite different. Let’s give this a try.
Nissin U.F.O. Koikoi Tarako Yakisoba – Japan
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains shrimp, pork, and salmon.
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).
The noodle block.
Loose bits and garnish from the tray.
A liquid sachet.
A dry base sachet.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chashu, spring onion, and mung bean sprouts. Noodle was a thicker gauge and soft; almost sticky. The flavor was a seafood and fish egg. I didn’t care for the flavor much and the redeemer here was cabbage, but in small amounts. 2.0 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4902105244517.
