Spicy, eh? Here’s what Ippudo has to say – ‘The original “Tonkotsu” (pork) broth with Ippudo’s signature dashi, thin noodles topped with pork belly chashu, sesame kikurage mushrooms, menma, red pickled ginger and scallions.’
This is the third variety that I’ll be trying in a box set. The other two were fantastic and hoping this one will be no exception. Let’s give it a try!
Ippudo Shiromaru Classic Ramen – Japan
Here’s the fancy box that this and two other varieties arrived in.
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains pork. To prepare, boil 400ml water and add noodle. Boil for 15-20 seconds. Add in soup and broth concentrate and stir. Garnish with pickled gingerand shichimi – and enjoy!
Detail of the inside of the box (click to enlarge).
A pouch of shelf stable fresh ramen.
A soup base sachet.
A liquid soup base sachet.
Shichimi togarashi.
Pickled ginger – I used to top everything with this stuff from ramen to mi goreng to ramyun.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chashu, egg, mung bean sprout, sesame seed, and spring onion. The noodle was absolute perfection – just the thinnest gauge, but wasn’t without a strong backbone and a truly fresh demeanor. The broth was equally impressive – thick, super savory pork flavor for days. The pickled ginger and pepper was an apt pairing. Honestly, this is the best straight tonkotsu I’ve had. Ever. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4979385061509.
