Here’s one I’ve wanted to get my hands on for quite a while. I like tantanmen – usually thick and spicy stuff – a denser, sloppier ramen. Let’s give it a go!
I’ve been reviewing instant noodles since 2002, doing episodes of Instant Noodle Recipe Time, The Chocolate Break with my wife, Professional Mukbang, Unboxing Time With The Ramen Rater and more. Right now, we’re in a pretty crummy financial situation and hoping that some of the fans will be able to help out – a lot of bills, loss of some resources, and ongoing illness have all contributed to being a perfect storm which is very hard. Big thank you from all who have already!! Please check the link here for details – thank you.
Nongshim Premium TanTanMen Ramen With Chili Oil – United States
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains pork and chicken. To prepare, add in powder base and room temp water (330ml) to line. Microwave 4 minutes at 1000W. Stir. Add in chili oil. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).
The noodle block.
A dry sachet of soup base.
A sachet of chili oil.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added chashu, mung bean sprout, spring onion, sesame seed, and crushed red pepper. Noodle comes out of the microwave very toothsome and with a decent gauge. The broth is a savory and lightly spicy one with a little extra body to it. I liked the spicy level and oiliness, and the meaty bits were a great addition. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.
