#4759: Indomie Rasa Soto Lamongan - Indonesia

A big thank you to Pher Engi of Australia for sending this! So there are many varieties of soto, and they are regiolnally different. Herew’s a translation of some info I found on the Indonesian Wikipedia –

Soto Lamongan ( Hanacaraka : ꦱꦺꦴꦠꦺꦴꦭꦩꦺꦴꦔꦤ꧀ ) is a chicken soup typical of Lamongan district , East Java , which has now spread to various regions in Indonesia . [1] Soto Lamongan is known as one of the most savory soto because it has the characteristic of sprinkling koya prawns which other soto does not have.

For practical reasons, in general, the meat in chicken soup is served shredded (torn into small pieces following the grain of the meat). However, in Soto Lamongan, the chicken is sliced thinly before being mixed with the other ingredients and the broth.

Sounds good to me – that koya styuff is really a nice little addition. Let’s cook.

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Unsure whether it contains meat – check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle in 400ml water for 3 minutes. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!

The noodle block.

A soup base powder sachet.

A dual sachet of chili sauce and seasoned oil.

A cracker powder known as koya.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added spring onion, crushed red pepper, and sesame seed. Noodle is a nice gauge – pretty standard. The broth has a compelling kind of maybe beef marrow and other spices kind of thing – at least it rubbed me that way although it seemed like chicken as well… Curious. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.  UPC bar code 08968604341.
