A couple years ago, Nissin Foods USA came out with something called Cup Noodles Pumpkin Spice. Honestly, I really enjoyed it and made many different recipes out of it, stretching it to the limit. This time, it’s a breakfast variety. I couldn’t find it, but luckily Stumpy from North Little Rock, AR, James from Lakeside, CA and Nissin Foods sent me cups which I truly appreciate. Here, I will go into meticulous detail about the product, and create five different things with it. With that, here’s The Ramen Rater’s Definitive Guide To Nissin Cup Noodles Breakfast.
The Ramen Rater’s Definitive Guide To Nissin Cup Noodles Breakfast
Q&A With Nissin Foods USA
I had the fortune to be able to talk with Nissin Foods briefly about this new variety –
THE RAMEN RATER> Who came up with the idea?
NISSIN FOODS> The Nissan USA research and development team, which is always working on flavor innovations, wanted to fit great breakfast cravings into a cup for a simple, quick way to start the day. The company’s research discovered that eggs, sausage and pancakes were the picks to create the best breakfast combination.
TRR> How long will these be available?
NISSIN FOODS> Until the current inventory sells out at all participating select Walmart locations.
TRR> Have people at Nissin USA tried making any interesting recipes with the Breakfast product or tried other toppings besides syrup or hot sauce?
NISSIN FOODS> Part of the reason we come up with new flavors is to see how our fans get creative with add-ons. In addition to adding pancake syrup or hot sauce, we like to mix in rice. Some fans have added bacon and eggs to theirs.
Sourcing: Where To Get It?
The answer is Walmart. The question is which one? Also, the question is why are other people seeing them and I’m not? Here’s how things like this work: Walmart orders a quantity from Walmart. Nissin delivers, or Walmart picks up in big trucks. Then, they go to ‘select’ stores. Now, the people that work in those stores have a huge amount of product to put out all the time, so they get out quickly or it takes a while. As of the date of this post, my guess is that they’ve all been put out. But I wanted to get to this stuff as soon as possible. My 4440th review was a week or so ago. Before I got some help with getting some cups, I hit up Walmart’s website – that went very strangely. They would show them available for sale online, however they were over $9. Then it would switch to showing stores they would be available in – and nowhere here in Washington state had them. Then it would switch back to the high priced offering (sold by a third party). What also was weird is the high price would change almost hourly – $9.42 would change to $9.41. Very frustrating. Luckily, my friend Stumpy found a store in Little Rock that did indeed show they were in stock, so he bought a couple dozen and sent me ten.
Product Review
04/05/2024 – This is a revisitation as they’re rolling these out yet again. They’re also coming out with an Everything Bagel flavor which I’ll be reviewing very soon.
Well, I got one. More coming. There will be a definitive guide. That being said, it’s spring break and the kids are home with me. I’ve been walking ten miles a day for the past 44 days. I think I broke them; I did almost 7 with them today in two walks. I think they had fun, but they look pretty tired. Only four more days of it, kids! Anyways, I went crazy on the Nissin Cup Noodles Pumpkin Spice Ramen Noodles In Sauce a couple years back; did a whole definitive guide and even a poster heralding it’s existance, with a graphic combination of that cup, a 2001: A Space Odyssey (it was review 4001) as well as references to Dune which had just come out. Now it’s time for a Cup Noodles Breakfast meltdown. Let’s give it a try.

The noodle block.
Loose bits and seasoning from the cup.
These were included with their press kit. First, some maple syrup.
Second, hot sauce. This tasted like a habanero variety I think I tried from a company in Florida that did a ton of private label.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added nothing. A very light noodle which holds the sauce for dear life. The flavor initially reminds me of their Cup Noodles Stir Fry, and a chicken flavor at that. The sausage bits taste like breakfast sausage, egg like egg, and then there’s the pancake bits – they’re really good with a nice maple syrup flavor. It’s good. The thing is, it’s much better with maple syrup. I’m not sold on adding hot sauce they supplied, but it was good hot sauce. As for the base product with nothing added, it’s good. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 070662409046.

Nissin Cup Noodles Breakfast Ice Cream
Finished (click to enlarge). Added maple syrup and nutmeg. The ice cream came out pretty decent. The cooked noodles acted as per usual – the consistency of chocolate with none of the flavor of chocolate. The ice cream had a kind of buttery maple taste, interacting with the recipe which was a basic vanilla. The pancake bits were quite nice, however the sausage bits getting stuck in my teeth were confusing.

Nissin Cup Noodles Bread / French Toast
Finished (click to enlarge). The bread was really quite nice – a basic white recipe however by adding cooked noodles, gained a little bit of moisture content and density. The crust was very, very light. Flavor had a slight maple bump – very slight. The trick with bread machines – never bake your bread in them – instead, use them to knead, rise, and proof your dough. Bake you bread in the oven. French Toast was egg, whole milk, and a ton of cinnamon and sugar and topped with butter and syrup. I devoured it with my daughter.

Nissin Cup Noodles Breakfast Pizza
Finished (click to enlarge). A bunch of hot sauce Nissin sent with a media kit box in the pizza dough imparts a little heat. The base was maple syrup and almost two of the cups of noodles. Monterey Jack cheese on top and a little maple syrup on top of that. End result was a very sticky pizza. The cheese interacted with the noodle and strangely provided a scrambled egg texture. The syrup with the crust honestly made it seem very pancake like. All in all, quite good and hard to put down.

Nissin Cup Noodles Prison Ramen Style Burrito
Finished (click to enlarge). Did I expect this to be good? Definitely not. This, however, was low hanging fruit as these are extremely easy to create. Crushed Doritos, crushed Flamin’ Hot Fusion Chee-Tos, and a cup. Added a little water as by the time I got to it the noodles had soaked much of it up. Added maple syrup and a fried egg. Yeah – as I say in the above video, no redeeming qualities here. Quite foul.

Nissin Cup Noodles Breakfast Omelette
Finished (click to enlarge). Used three eggs and two slices of Velveeta singles. My prowess with omelettes can be seen here in full… lacking. Either way, I added the last of the Cup Noodles Breakfast Hot Sauce on it and that worked pretty well. The cheese also worked nicely. Wasn’t bad really, but there are better ways to skin a cat.

In Conclusion
I can safely say that this product is pretty good. I will say I definitely liked the Pumpkin Spice better. One thing also is that the reactions of people in the Ramen Junkies group which I and the #section42 crew admin, people were for the most part afraid to try based on their usual ‘I wouldn’t try that’ kind of stance. But that’s okay – you’ll get there.
I want to send a hardy hand clasp of gratitude and thanks to Stumpy from North Little Rock, AR and James from Lakeside, CA. Also, big thanks to the folks at Nissin Foods USA for sending that neat press kit with the hot sauce and maple syrup – and for helping with my questions. Next time? Do a pizza cup! Get Steve Martin in on it – then you can have him say ‘this is the best cup of pizza around.’
