#10: Ibumie Penang White CurryMee
This is a very accessible and great starter for those who want to delve into the fine world of Malaysian instant noodles. A great noodle, couples with a luxuriant curry broth with strong notes of cumin. It’s really quite good. Original review | Get it here
#9: Meet Mee Tom Yum Pan Mee
Noodles are flat and broad with a great chewiness. The broth is just a wonderful tom yum – quite perfect in viscosity and flavor. The big one here is the fried anchovy which is crisp and when it gets soaked just adds to the broth so nicely. This was a real treat and I’m into it! Original review
#8: Meet Mee Malaysia Chili Pan Mee
Noodle is thick and chewy – broad and flat. The flavor is sweet, spicy, and oily, accompanied with ground chili which is great as well as fried anchovy which is crisp and add texture and delights of flavor. Just a flavorful wonder. Original review
#7: A1 Mi Kari Laksa Curry Laksa Noodle
This one is a big pack of noodles, paste, and powder . I was given this by a fellow noodle fan a little while back and it was the focus of my ‘How I review’ video which you can see on the original review link. A great noodle with a savory and luxuriant broth worth finding and trying! Original review | Get it here
#6: Mamee Chef Mi Goreng Perisa Rendang Legenda
Noodle gauge was spot on for this dish. The flavor and scent was rendang – really liked the basil notes as well. Had a very nice heat to it as well which I loved, and the included crunchy bits were great. Truly excellent. Original review
#5: KampongKu Penang Prawn Soup Noodles
Noodle is of a light gauge with nice mouthfeel. Broth is that strong prawn flavor I love so much. Not spicy so much, but very flavorful with a real depth of taste. The included fried shallot really work wonderfully. Original review
#4: Mamee Chef Perisa Lontong
Noodles are again excellent as they were with the laksa kari. The broth is a milky and flavorful melange of savoriness, on point on oiliness, and a little milkiness. Bit of pepper rings float here and there. All in all, just great stuff. Original review
#3: MyKuali Penang White Curry Noodle
The stuff of legend. MyKuali brough forth the juggernaut that is Penang White Curry in 2013 and since then it has become synonymous with strong curry flavor and exotic spices. It’s just in a world of it’s own – if you haven’t tried it, you’re really missing out. Original review | Get it here
#2: MyKuali Penang Black Curry Noodle
The black noodle is great – gauge and chew are very good. The broth is truly brilliant; this isn’t spicy like their white curry, however this is incredibly savory with a little heat. I swear I’m getting a ton of cumin in here, and I love cumin. Broth is thick and oily and wonderful. The included sachet of pepper really adds a nice extra bit of texture as well as heat. Original review
#1: Red Chef Hae Bee Hiam Dried Noodles
As I mentioned above, I love strong prawn flavor. This is about the best spicy prawn savory noodle I’ve ever had. Period. Hae bee hiam is kind of hard to describe, but if you know what Lao Gan Ma Chili Crisp is, take that thought and translate a little to make it sweet spicy prawn. Just as savory and satisfying as can be; a no brainer for the number one spot. Original review | Get it here
Special Mention
I was contacted by a company called Homiah in late 2022. They have a wide array of products that feature pastes and flavors of southeast asia which are just absolutely spot on and wonderful! What’s nice is that you can get them here in the United States! Check ’em out!

All The Indomie I’ve Tried
I’ve reviewed a lot of Indomie over the years. I thought I’d make up a list of all of the varieties I’ve tried, and here it is. Looks like 77 of them if I counted right.
Definitive Guides
This year, I’ve decided to do a special series called Definitive Guides. Recipes, trivia, history, and more on some of the most loved and fascinating varieties of instant noodles around the world! So far, I’ve got one on Nongshim’s Shin Ramyun, and Indomie’s Mi Goreng and Nissin Foods’ Cup Noodles Pumpkin Spice! Very recently, I released a Definitive Guide To Maruchan Ramen Noodle Soup. Future guides will include MAMA Tom Yum, and more. My plan is do feature one or two products from each country.
