Well, this is interesting. Nissin USA sent me a pack of this stuff – thanks! What’s interesting is that I’ve had this before; sort of. Nissin Indonesia has a Geki range as well – here’s a link to their carbonara flavor. I think you might be putting it together pretty quick – fiery hot chicken, carbonara… Yup. Definitely popular flavors these days. Let’s give this a try – there’ll be a mukbang at the bottom.
Nissin Geki Fiery Hot Chicken Flavor – United States
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains chicken (fat). I also want to mention something I’d never heard of that it contains – something called Rebauioside A. It’s derived from stevia, a natural sweetener, and 240 times sweeter than sugar – that’s impressive! Some will find this hard to pronounce and emit gasps, but don’t be afraid of food science!!! To prepare, boil noodle block in 2 cups water for 3 minutes. Drain, saving 2 spoons water (30ml). Add water back in and sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
An instant noodle block. The noodle is infused with chili pepper, although I did not detect it upon sampling. Nice color though.
A sachet of soup base powder seasoning.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, sesame seed, scallion. Noodle was pretty good, although the chili infused aspect only seemed to me as being a colorant. The flavor was definitely a nod to the ‘fire noodle’ spicy trend, but it falls flat with a flavor I just didn’t enjoy. It bums me out, really – was hoping for something great but lack of something like a fried onion sachet to boost it just left disappointment. Flavor just off. 1.0 out of 5.0 stars.
