Well this sounds right up my alley! A rice vermicelli laksa that actually comes with fishball! I’m all over this let’s give it a try!

Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).
A package of rice vermicelli.
A sachet of soup base powder seasoning.
A sachet of liquid soup base.
A pair of fish balls.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, scallion, Homiah Sambal Chili Crunch, sesame seed, and shrimp. Vermicelli was fascinating; a couple different widths here. Hydrated nicely as well. The broth was beautifully oily and colorful as it should be. Looks at those fishball! They came with it! The flavor is good; but it’s missing something. I think some fish sauce would really go a long way. I don’t often say this, but I wish it had more saltiness. The big sachet of coconut milk powder was a really nice addition. I think that this is carried more olfactorily than by palate and just needs a little extra punch of umami. Regardless, the flavors are there and the inclusion of the fishball plucks my heartstrings. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 4717011159325.
