This really is a big bowl of kitsune udon. I’ve never really been a fan, but this is compelling – maybe I’ll turn the corner – let’s find out.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Homiah Sambal Chili Crunch, scallion, flower fu, and sesame seed. Noodle was broad, flat udon. The tofu is like a soft and chewy tongue – which is really enjoyable. The show stopper is the broth which is oily – on the scale of a prawn noodle from Malaysia; something I don’t see in a Japanese variant; maybe tantanmen.
